Vierteltondoppelklarinette

"Durch die Beschäftigung der Komponisten mit Mikrointervallen und der Viertelton-Musik, die in Mitteleuropa ab Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts stattfand, entstand gerade bei Blasinstrumenten der Wunsch nach baulicher Unterstützung dieser Töne. Der Instrumentenbauer Fritz Schüller (1883–1977) konstruierte eine Vierteltondoppelklarinette, die aus zwei nebeneinander liegenden, im Abstand eines Vierteltons gestimmten Klarinetten bestand, die jedoch mit nur einem Mundstück und einem Klappensystem ausgestattet war. Mit einem zusätzlichen Hebel konnte zwischen den beiden Röhren hin- und hergeschaltet werden, so dass es ohne erheblich größeren Griffaufwand möglich war, eine Vierteltonleiter zu spielen."
